Our Vision

First United Methodist Church of Elon is a thriving congregation that is committed to local and global missions and outreach, spiritual formation, and meaningful worship that centers around Scriptural truth.  

We enjoy a good mix of ages in the congregation and offer ministries that relate to all.  For example, our First United Methodist Christian Playschool (First School) provides a great environment for learning and Christian nurture for 1-4 year olds while our Senior Adult Ministries (SAM) provides fellowship and enrichment events for senior adults of the church and community.  

We are located near Elon University and sponsor the Methodist Student Fellowship on campus.  Just across the street from us is Twin Lakes, a large retirement community and we are engaged in ministries there.  

We believe that God has placed us in this unique setting for ministry and is equipping us for the mission of “Making Disciples of Jesus Christ and Meeting Human Need.”  We endeavor to fulfill this high calling by forming ministry teams comprised of clergy, staff, and laity who are committed to demonstrating our gratitude to God and living out our Christian faith and commitment in the world through our “prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.”
