First School

I BELONG HERE...

This is something our children know from their first day.
Their First School... a mission of First United Methodist Church of Elon.
The dream of sponsoring a children's play school was one of the congregation's visions when planning is facility in Elon. Today, First School is a reality that puts to use the church's modern facility and playground in a faith-based program.

I BELONG HERE...

Our children know they are something special as the mission of FIst School is to enchance a child's spiritual, emotional, physical, social, intellectual and creative development. All programming, all activities, all decisions are guided by this philosophy.

I BELONG HERE...

First School welcomes children ages 1, 2, 3, and 4. We emphasize the development of social skills, and curriculum selections are driven by this.

I BELONG HERE...

We teach children how they belong in so many ways:

  • Special family celebrations at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.
  • Monthly chapel time with Pastor Terry and Pastor Kristin, where they learn about their place in church.
  • Outings to the farm, the library, the fire station, etc. where they fit in our society.

COMPARE...

First School's small class size with low student/teacher ratios are a plus. Our wonderful facility provides an inviting environment. We do not charge extra for activities. However, we do charge a once a year supply fee.
We provide a music program for our 2's, 3's and 4's.
Monthly library trips for our 3's and 4's.
Our 4's are prepared and ready for Kindergarten.
Because of individual preferences, children bring their own snacks each day. First School provides the juice.
All teachers and assistants are trained in pediatric first aid and CPR.
Each day's activities include a balance of classroom instruction, art, movement, music and play.
Classes begin at 9am and ends at noon for our 2's, 3's and 4's. Class begins at 9am and ends at 11:30am for our 1's.
Teachers attend annual training and program enchancement sessions.
