Children's Ministry

We believe that children are of the utmost importance in God’s Kingdom.  For that reason, we strive to provide a loving, nurturing environment for children to learn and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Each month we offer a unique event, often seasonal in nature, especially for our children.  This might be a Valentine mission project, an Easter Egg Hunt, Vacation Bible School, Trunk or Treat, or the Advent workshop.  Children of all ages, but especially 5th grade and younger, are invited to participate in these activities.

In addition, you will find the every-Sunday offerings below…

  • The Nursery is offered for our children ages two and under.  The nursery is located in room 112, with an attached crib nursery in room 111.  Each Sunday, our hired nursery attendant is assisted by volunteers from a rotating list.  The nursery is available beginning at 9:30 AM and is staffed for the duration of Sunday School and worship.  Be sure you have filled out a registration form for your child when you drop him/her off!  You will also be asked to take a tag which will identify you when you return to pick your child up.
  • Children’s Worship is offered for our three, four, and five year olds during the Worship hour.  Children’s Worship begins as soon as Sunday School ends (about 10:45 AM) in the same room as the preschool Sunday School class meets (Room 114 on the children’s hallway).  If your child is already in Sunday School there, you are welcome to stick your head in and say hello between Sunday School and worship.  At that point, your child may either remain for Children’s Worship, or go with you to the first part of worship.  There will be another opportunity for children to move to this program about 15 minutes into the worship service, after our “Children’s Moment.”
  • Children’s Sunday School begins at 9:45 AM on the education hallway in rooms 113, 114, and 115.  Children are divided according to age, with classes for preschoolers (3 and 4 year olds), K-2nd graders, and 3rd-5th graders.  Assorted United Methodist curriculums are used, including some rotation lessons at various points during the year.

It is our regular policy to train, screen, and background check all volunteers who work with children.  We follow procedures to ensure the safety of each child while they are with us.  This includes regulations on the number and age of volunteers, the use of roamers, and the security system and door locks.  If you would like further information about Safe Sanctuaries, please see the Safe Sanctuaries Policy, located in the Administration section of the website.
